THE ARTIST

Jennifer L. King was born in San Francisco California and raised in a large multiethnic family. Her mother is Chinese American, and her father is African American -both were talented artists in the visual and performing arts. Early experiences and exposure in the art world left long lasting impressions which led her to pursue a career in health and science, however she maintained her creative practice in different mediums before committing her focus to oil painting. Sharp-focus detail is a lifelong endeavor she pursues to this day from her studio in the South Of Market neighborhood in San Francisco, California.

THE ART

The complexity and qualities of being different are always considered when creating my art. I elevate ordinary objects in extraordinary perspectives -challenging admiration for conventional beauty. Experiences connected to ethnic ambiguity and a sense of otherness influences many of the subjects in my work with a yearning to inspire connection and arouse youthful curiosity and wonderment -and always with a bit of levity.
